Holistic Yoga with Julia Moore

My teaching is eclectic and adaptable and informed by over twenty years of yoga practice; extensive and ongoing teacher training - including yoga therapy training, Hanna somatic training and yoga for backs training); and deep fascination with movement and how it supports the mind, body and spirit. My greatest teacher however is my own body which is inclined towards stiffness and tension if I skip my pratice.

As such, I understand the needs of those with chronic tension, hypermobility, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, stiffness, spinal problems, dodgy knees, hip pain, shoulder injury, the list could go on...

The classes offer very detailed instruction ideal for beginners and intermediate students looking for a fresh perspective on how to move in the poses (grounded in Vanda Scaravelli's teaching about gravity and the spine and modern concepts from neurology and anatomy).

Yoga is about so much more than the physical asana practice - through paying attention to how we move and breathe we can learn to feel the flow of our body's energy. The pupose of hatha yoga is to unblock the body's energy channels (nadis or meridians) so that energy (prana or chi) may flow freely to nourish every cell of the body, every aspect of our being. Students find that both body, mind and spirit benefit greatly from working with attentiveness to this energy. Students are introduced to the wider practice of yoga (philosophy, mediatation, breath awareness, mindfulness) and how this relates to everyday life in our culture.

All classes are tailored to those who attend (adapations are given without disturbing the flow of the class) and so are suitable for all.

Julia teaches at the Haelan Centre on:

Mondays 1:30 - 3:00pm (General Therapeutic)
Wednesday 11:30 - 1:00pm (General Therapeutic)
Wedneday 1:30 - 2:45pm (Yoga for Stress and Pain)

Fridays 1:30 - 3:00pm (Gentle Therapeutic)
Saturday 10:15 - 11:45am (Gentle Therapeutic)
